So I went to the range the other day with both of my .45's one is a Taurus PT1911 and the other is a Kimber CDP II Ultra LG. When I got home and cleaned them and I found myself scrubbing the carbon off of the Taurus and when I got to the Kimber i just whipped it off with ease. Does anyone know the coating of the CDP II?

Re: Kimber Coating....

Its KimProII, who makes the coating for Kimber now is unknown, what is known though is that the original KimPro finish was actually KG Gunkote and of far higher quality than what they are using now. I had to refinish the frame on my Tactical due to paint chipping off a month after I got the gun. Re-did it in KG FDE and its 100% better now.

Its possible that their finish just doesnt work as well on the alloy frames (like the Tactical) so I cant speak much for the finish being junk on steel. My slide is just a matte parkerizing type finish which has held up well.
