I recently picked up a Sako TRG folder and was faced with the difficulty of finding a good way to secure a bipod to the forend rail. Not wanting to spend $300 for a factory Sako bipod (which I didn't want to use), I rigged up a sling stud on a nut that slid into the rail of the stock to mount a Harris bipod, what I found is the center of gravity was too high and not very stable. After looking around, I kept coming back to the KRG spigot mount. I decided to purchase one off of their website, which was fast and easy, and the site shows real time inventory. I received a prompt email as well as a shipping confirmation with tracking info, good support after the sale. KRG ships many of their items 2nd day USPS, so it arrived a few days after the purchase. My initial impression of the mount was the high quality of the machine work and finish and a very high level of detail, you can tell a lot of effort went into this product from design all the way to the packaging. First off, it requires removal of the stock shins and barreled action, which is a very simple task, all the hardware is included as well as instructions. I will also note that a standard sling swivel is included for mounting a Harris, which is what I am using so I was pleased to see that, additional screws are also included for side rails, flush cup plates, etc.
The install took a total of 15 minutes, including torqueing the action. The first thing you will notice is how much lower the bipod sits in relation to the bore axis, as well as the increased length which overall provides a significant increase in stability off the bipod, its a very noticeable improvement. It also gives increased area for positional shooting off barricades. I own a few products from KRG and have been very impressed with their products, but their service is also top notch. So onto the pics
What all is included
original bipod position
with the mount installed
lower center of gravity with increased length and stability (note: enough room for pod loc)
After purchasing the KRG spigot mount, I would say it is a huge improvement to any TRG or KRG chassis owner, well worth it.
