First off, if this is posted in the wrong section, Mods please move it.

I am deciding between the X-Ray and the McRee. Both companies have some outstanding customer service, and Scott McRee is about as outstanding an individual as it's been my pleasure to talk to. Both their chassis are excellent and both companies serve the shooting community exceptionally, which is what makes this decision so difficult. I realize the X-Ray is still in its infancy as far as use is concerned, but the W3 has been around long enough for me to expect nothing but great things from the X-Ray. The McRee G5 has been around longer than the X-Ray and has been very positively received.

From what I gather, both the X-Ray and the G5 have adjustable comb height. Both have adjustable LOP, with the McRee's being "mechanical", if you will, and the X-Ray being spacers. Both will drop in a Rem 700 barreled action with Timney trigger. I can run a spigot on the X-Ray to push my Atlas further forward, not sure what I can do on the G5. Both accept Ai or AI-styled magazines. Both are going to be relatively close price-wise. For those who are familiar with both chassis, which would be your choice and why?

I own a McRee and really like it (it does weigh 4.5-5# though), but on my recent builds I wanted to try out a few different options. I now own the XLR Element and the KRG Whiskey 3 (also weighs in right around 4.5#) and I absolutely love them both. X-ray is one of the next ones on my list but unless you specifically ruled out XLR Industries for some reason I would definitely look into them as well.

The XLR Element is absolutely awesome, lightweight, and adjustable. I wasn't a big fan of the closed top look of the XLR Evolution so when they came out with the Element I was very excited!

Hero, I didn't necessarily rule out the XLR, but I'll admit I didn't exactly remember them either, so thanks for the reminder!

Between the X-Ray and the McRee, does the foregrip on the McRee extend further forward than the X-Ray? It looks that way, but I can't really tell. The reason I'm asking is because if the McRee foregrip does extend further, then it would put the Atlas in roughly the same spot as the X-Ray with a spigot mount. Granted, I'd need a rail installed on the McRee, whereas one comes with the X-Ray and just needs to be bolted in.

I have a couple McRee's Precision chassis and have been running them in practical precision rifle matches for years now. They are good chassis and affordable compared to many others. While I like McRee chassis and don't mind Scott I plan on moving on to products like the XLR Carbon Tactical and Mirage ULR Flat Top.
