So here is 3 powders lobbing 178gr AMAX. not sure what to make of the results. (ignore the .22 holes in the middle target and bottom target of CFE223. Sebben lit them before i got pics.)

Varget. 42.5-44.5 gr. in .5 increments

IMAG0172.jpg

RE-15 42.5-45.0 gr in .5 increments

CFE 223 45.0-47.0 in .5 increments

The Varget and RE-15 loads consistantly shot well regardless of charge but 43.5 to 44.5 gr was always center cluster on all 3 tests. the CFE 223 loads were a bit easier to discern. the 5 shot groups always had 45 and 45.5 alone with 46, 46.5 and 47 WELL clustered. (bottom target look at the 8/9 ring at 9 o'clock)

Seems i can't go wrong with the powder options. going to run one with imr 4064. out of these 3 powders, what is the most temp stable? i know cfe 223 isnt but is there much difference between RE15, 4064 and Varget?

gun is stock rem 700 AAC-SD in B&C LTR, badger 20MOA base, Talley tactical rings and SWFA SSHD 5-20x50 glass.

Re: Ladder Test results

How far away?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure Varget is your best bet for temp stability.

I don't understand how you get 3 targets doing 2-2.5gr spreads in in .5 gr increments (my math says there should be 5-6 targets per powder if that is the case).

Also, I think .2 or .3gr spreads would do you a lot more good than .5gr.

Re: Ladder Test results

sadly 100 yds. longer distances require a hefty toll in time, gas and money. the ladders were repeated. varget and cfe had 5 shots repeated on 3 targets for consistency. re15 had 6 shots on 3 targets.

Re: Ladder Test results

At .05 difference per load you might miss the group. I know I did when I tried .05

Re: Ladder Test results

I'll be doing a ladder test sometime in the future with IMR 4350. Just have a bulk of it left over from my 7mm Mag so figured I'd give it a shot with the 308 and see how it goes.

Any one experimented with 4350 yet?
