Long time lurker here... Howdy:)

So here's what I am working with. I have a buddy who is selling his 24" 700 action 308 Landtech with a 20 MOA base.jewell trigger. It is a tac driver. The proof target looks like one not so ragged hole at 100. He is able to keep it under .5 moa. It has a McMillan stock.

On the other hand I have been looking at assembling a 20" 700 AAC. I would put it in a Standard Mcree folding stock. Base, cheek pad, and new trigger if I need one is factored in to price.

After I crunched numbers I would be spending well over $500 (at MSRP)more if I buy my friends rifle. I know I can cut my expenses with the contacts that I have. I think I could assemble my build with a vortex Razor 5-20 for $500 more than the amount of money I would be shelling out for just the rifle.

Then I think I would want to change out the stock and get the barrel threaded. That would put me into well over $1200 additional $$$. Plus I would have to buy a scope.

I know the AAC route will not be as accurate as the landtech but the money saved could be well spent in ammo and training.

If I loved the landtech setup as it stands I think I would have no issues with buying my buddies rifle.

It probably sounds dumb but I think looks and coolness factor is playing a part in my decision.

I've been staring at the Internet a lot and thinking about this for a couple weeks now. I think my buddies rifle is a great rifle but I'm just not excited. I will get to handle it again tomorrow but I think it's going to have to be MAGICAL In order for me to buyit.

What do y'all think?

I believe the best value in a custom rifle is that it is customized to your specs. Go with the one that will suit your need the best. Also I thinm that part of ooning a custom is that it should look the way you want it to. Id build my own to your dream specs and get it done right

That's a great way of putting it. Why buy a custom rifle if its not custom to me... I just found that we have a AAC in stock at my shop today so maybe someone is telling me something. I think I will use this"build" to get a better understanding of things. It may not end up being "correct" in all aspects but I think it will get me going and make me happy... Later down the line I might have to change a few things or a lot but that's just part of advancing. Thanks for the reply.

Buy the aac and vortex...that way you will get the collateral benefit of learning how to use the Hide classifieds when reality bears it ugly head.

If it is the same lantec in London ky you might should buy it now. Those things are going to be gone. Or let me know where it is if ou don't. I'd lie to have one not worn out.
