how would you lap or bed a scope. if its an old thread please post it up here. ill be getting a nightforce shortly and was wondering how to do this so it wont scratch up the new scope

Murphy Precision's webpage has a base bedding step by step method on there. No ring lapping though.

what about lapping rings? i saw my gunsmith take a handheld bar looking file and file the inside of the rings with it. it was 30mm exactly, it looked like it made it completely smoothe so there would not be scope ring marks left. i know i might sound stupid when i ask if i should take my rifle and optic to him to get this done. the reason why im going to do this is because i have a pair of dove tail rings on one of my rifles and when sighting in i maxed out in moa clicks to the right. im about 3/4 of an in short to the right, and no windage ajustments can be made. oh and it scratched a high end scope to shit.
