Hi,

Not sure if I should be posting this question in the scope section or here but since it's for my maten build, I figured this would work. My question is does anyone know if LaRue's LT120 scope mount will fit with a 50 mm objective lens w/ butler creek caps and still be able to clear troy's rear buis? Specifically I am using bushnell's ers scope. 50mm Objective and 44 ocular lens(I believe). I've been searching and finding mixed answers. Some people say if fits but others have said no. I contacted LaRue but honesty I don't think the guy who was helping me knew 100% either. I rather keep the scope as low as possible while still being able to have my buis mounted and butler creek caps on. If the LT120 doesn't fit I'm guessing the LT807 would be a better option. On there page it says max objective lens size for LT120 is 56mm, so I should be in the clear there with the butler creek cap(not a 100% certain), but can't seem to find anything on if it will clear troy's buis. Thanks in advance!

You need to figure out what height will give you the correct cheek weld for you. My Bushnell AR/223 4.5-18x40mm scope with Nikon P-SERIES split mounts measures 1.375" from the top of the rail to the center of the scope tube. This is to low for a comfortable cheek position to look through the center of the scope lens. I will change it to a height of 1.5" which is perfect for me. 1/8 th. inch makes a big difference for me. Some guys like 1.25" which makes the scope veeeery low. With the Nikon two piece mount had to be turned around so the zoom adjustment ring would not bind on the mount. Here are some pictures which show the difference.

The first picture has a riser + low rings which 1.5" and I could leave the rear sight on. I like this height.

The second picture they measure 1+3/8" and I had to remove the rear sight and turn the back mount around backwards to work, but is to low for me.

The third picture shows the fluting.

Forth picture is the very first 100 yd. 5 shot group I shot with my hunting load for my old 16" upper with my new WOA 18" upper.

PS: I really like this scope. It is compact and crystal clear with very good contrast and turrets that have audible clicks that are returnable. I can also see my bullet holes in the target at 100 yds.

Thanks for the reply tickled pink. The reason why I want a low 1.285'' height (top of rail to center line of scope) is because 1) I am very skinny and pretty much have no cheek fat, so naturally I need a tall cheek rest or low rings. 2), I rather build up my cheek rest as small as possible on my magpul stock.. Basically that's why I was wondering what the lowest set of larue rings I can get away with while still being able to clear the rear troy buis and still mount the butler creek cap on 50mm objective lens. I also plan to use this scope on two platforms so that is why I am interested in a qd lever mount with 0 moa. I may just end up going with the LT807 (1.375) and play it safe and just build any cheek rest up on the stock if need be. Sexy rifle btw! and awesome group there.

I run a LT120 with a PST 50mm as a switch scope setup for my bolt and gas gun. The objective does clear the rail, but the butler creek does require modification to fit. I love it though. Just right on my gas gun (if I use caps there bikini covers), and comfortable on my bolt gun (adjustable cheek rest).
