Purchased a set of new LT709 30mm rings from a fellow member. Turns out when I install my 10x SS 30mm, there is almost a dime sized gap between the upper and lower rings, on both sides.

I have searched and many said its "ok" but is this to be expected from a company like LaRue on rings this expensive?

I haven't used that particular mount but I have a small gap between the two halves on my LT104 and have never taken issue with it. Most optics mounts, even expensive ones, are going to have a gap between the two halves after the scope is in place and everything is torqued down.

It's fine. Most all rings have the gap and it's better than them meeting as it allows for variations in tube size and allows the proper torque.
