ive looking for a good laser to put on my fnar ive been looking at the laser genetics nd5 cause of its night vision has any one tried it? does the night vision actually work? thanks.

I have the nd3, it ain't exactly night vision, more like a flash light with a laser source, so the beam doesn't grow as a flash light would, but stays confined in a well defined beam.
Beware: battery life and great, and if the batteries get cold, beam intensity falls fast.
For pig hunting in Texas, it hasn't scared anything away yet, but I haven't put the beam on their face.
It is a good piece of gear in many applications. It ain't night vision (the source is illuminated)but is much better than lighting the target up with a flashlight.

the nd3 is great! i finally have a few in stock here, they have been back ordered for a while and we finally got more in. i killed a coon with one about 40 yards away. it's a neat system and i think the new models have addressed the bad lower temp performance.

I have a ND3 as well. As far as night vision goes, it is not a replacement for real gear. However, it does work similar to what is shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdkU8gJ9w3o
At 100 yards you can light up your scope as shown. beyond 100, the beam has to be constricted to a point that your field of vision is minimal. The biggest problem is mounting the flashlight so that it is inline with your scope. The mount that comes with it is a complete piece of junk. If we could get LaRue to make us a quality adjustable mount, then the story would be different. Additionally, the pressure switch end cap that is included is also very cheap. The wires do not swivel in the cap, so they end up breaking in no time flat.

All in all, a great concept. The larger version is better and brighter, but all the more difficult to mount on a weapon.

I agree. I was so unhappy with the overall quality of the unit that I sent it back for a refund. the threads for the battery crap were junk and was suprised that they lasted as long as they did. The mounts that came with it were real bad.
