Is there any value in adding laser grips to a cary gun like a ruger lcp? Seems like a waste considering that in an emergent self defense situation one wouldn't take the time to visualize one's target with the laser, because of the panic factor. As problematic would be the issue of inadvertently covering up the laser beam with one's finger. I have a kimber with a laser grip and honestly don't use it that much with target shooting. Maybe indoors at nite if you hear something go bump.... What do you all think?

Re: Laser grips

there is in low light situations, look up some videos on youtube that shows what can happen if you practice. hip firing the whole magazine into a whole that fits under a nickel.

Re: Laser grips

I agree and disagree. With practice, I find sights to be quicker and more accurate, as you can compensate for distance. I like the laser grips that automatically turn on with grasping grip, for secondary reassurance. Laser sights that have to be switched on are a potential disaster.

Re: Laser grips

Say its dark and im in your home with a pistol as well dressed in all black. You turn on your laser and still havent seen me yet, well i now know where you are due to the nice little red line pointing straight back at you. The only good i can see for a laser is a training aid to work on trigger control and sight alignment.

Re: Laser grips

I have them on an LCP and the wife's Kel-tec. I think they are very useful on these little pistols that otherwise have terrible sights and no way to put on night sights. Don't have a laser on my everyday carry 1911 but it is a lot easier to shoot well and points a whole lot better than the LCP sized guns. For someone that doesn't shoot as much as many of us I think it is a great aid....my wife goes from adequate to one hell of a shot at twice the speed with a laser in place. I agree they are not for everyone and every situation but I personally think they have a very useful place on the little guns and with less experienced shooters. Find one to shoot and see what works for you...that is the main thing anyway.
