Hi all here is a rifle we just finished it is a 308 with a hand lapped 13 twist 26" palma barrel. it has a Lawton brake fitted and a stainless Lawton 7000 action with Jewell HVR trigger and trigger shoe from tumbleweed in the US. It soes have a 223 mag as the 308 mags are int he air and should be here this week so we used the 223 mag as a single shot follower. these chassis are just the best fit and finish of any stock that is a true drop in and the rifle was shooting 1/2 moa at 300 yards this thing hammers with 155gr Palma ammo as this is what the guy wants to use it with for his varmint gun so he does not have to change dies and projectiles from his comp shooting one load for both rifles.

The rifle is sitting on an Atlas V8 the best bipods i have ever used for this type of rifle they are just amasing in quality and workmanship they way they trach and cant is just perfect.

PS the rail is now Black we were waiting for them to come back from anodising and wanted to test it and it now has a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10X40 with B&C reticle for huntilg and a Kill flash in Leupold QRW rings the Nightforce was just for testing.

Hope the pics come out it was amasing to shoot and you could just watch the hits.

That is a Hogue i am pretty sure it is the standard grip that comes with the XLR stock it has the back top rubber cover for the AR reciever cut off so it is flat on top. it is realy comfortable to shoot and the stock is fully adjustable.

Re: Lawton 7000 and XLR Build With Atlas V8

OK we only shot the rifle at 300 yards and ran it single shot because the 308 mags still have not arrived but the rifle functioned perfectly. the trigger is set at 1 pound so it is super crisp and fairly light. the muzzle break makes spotting the shots very easy and with the bipod staying in contact with the ground with a small amount of preload.

the 13 twist is because the guy only shoots 155gr projectiles and under it is essentialy a varmint rifle and it shoots the 155gr projectiles very well. the palma rifles are only allowed to be rifled in 308 with 4 specified 155gr projectiles here in Australia and he will use the same ammo in his target rifle and this rifle and they have identicle chambers in them.

lawton Machine make the breaks and they are a smaler model of their chey tac brake i think the 6 small holes in the rear baffle on each side allow the gas to dwell a bit more on the baffle than an open port like the front ones helping the effectiveness they realy work well to tame rifles and we have used this same size on 9 pound 338/378 Weatherbies and they realy make them managable so i can attest to their effectiveness.

When we were shooting we shot on palma targets on a still day and we were keeping 5 shots under MOA. i think the design of the chassis and the way the action actualy locks into it creating a firm fit realy helps the action does not spring out of it when the bolts are released or when they are retensioned i think they realy are the best chassis type stock on the market today. there are now 3 different but configerations offered with the ease of standard AR buts being able to be fitted so it is very versitile. the chassis is not light though as you would emagine but it is solid and this rifle realy shoots.

Any other questions i am happy to answer.

I forgot to add the action is Nitride coated so it is super hard and slick on the surface but retains the structual properties of the steel underneath staying tough on the inside under the micron thick black coating it looks awsome.

The barrel got a little warm and looked like that after we got back and the pics were on the computer. the forend tube also works well to slow mirrage around the objectile of the scope as well as being stiff to help the rifle track well without spring that you can get with some other stocks.

We have the other rails to allow Night vision or lasers and lights to be easily attached to the forend tube this modular system allows a lot of user interchangability to suit diferent applications.

No flutes on the barrel it is a medium palma profile just the mirrage coming off the barrel. it did not show up until the pics were ont he computer.

Sorry for the delay to answering the question
