I found out today that Lawton Machine is no longer in business. It is sad to hear this. I ordered a barrel from them in February for a 408 Cheytac that I am building for a customer that I have not yet received, but I had to pay up front for, does anybody know who I can contact so I can get my money back?

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

Look in the dictionary under fat chance. It was fairly common knowledge that many were taken. I think the father died and the son ran it into the ground. Sorry.

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

I heard that they were bought out and were moving. I think I read it here on the Hide but I don't know how true that is. Good luck getting your money back.

Please be careful repeating rumors. I have no dog in this race, but only those who really know, should speak to what happened.

The son was a idiot and made a lot of promises he couldn't keep.

The shop manager was a f'ing retard and put out shit work and expected people to not notice.

Everything got blamed on the receptionist.

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

OP, I have had business dealings with them back when they still picked up the phone once a month...

As far as I can tell, what you're being told are the facts of the matter.

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

Short answer to what happened is that Barney died. As it turns out, the company died with him.

I had a dog in the fight for 15 months and it NEVER got corrected. Bobby and Jackson BOTH made promises they never intended on keeping.

Sorry to hear you got into them for anything. I think chaulking it up as a life experiance and accepting that you're eating it is the best you can do.

I had a 6mo ordeal in '08 for a single action I do not fondly remember. I can see the receptionist taking flak. There was allot of bad info at that time.

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

That's a damned shame. Barney was an innovator and built arguably the best barrels for tossing monolithic solids past a mile.

Re: Lawton Machine, what happened?

Here's a quote from another website about Lawton's status. It was posted about a month ago.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: BobbyL</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Just to inform everyone of the truth the company has been purchased and is working hard to get this mess straightened out. I will NOT go into details but bad stuff went on and if you have a outstanding order with Lawton everything possible is being done to get the old orders out as quickly as possible. Wait times are going to vary of course but just please be patient we are doing everything that we can.

If anyone needs to make contact please email us at [email protected]. Please don't try calling us yet we have a lot to do.</div></div>

Bobby went on to say that he had been laid-off but was there working for nothing trying to get things straitened out.
