I have an Element that comes appart for cleaning. The baffles are stainless steel. I need to find a solvent that is safe for the stanless steel, but will strip the lead off of them. Any suggestions? Preferably somthing not to toxic.

Hum.... not toxic. You must be kidding. Lead is toxic itself.

I think you are mistaken. Some things are toxic to the touch, some have toxic fumes. Some may just bother the eyes, other may kill. If you don't have something positive to add, please stay off my post

I have heard that "The Dip" 50% vinegar 50% peroxide, puts off poisonous fumes, "hightly toxic"? What handling precautions should be taken? Trophyhumter-My Elemement comes appart, so I can treat just the stanless steel baffels. I don't know how it would effect a sealed can.

Hey I have used the mix & it works great & No Poisson Fumes .

& it's 50-50
WHITE Vinegar & normal household H2O2/ hydrogen peroxide .

What is Poison is . It dissolves the Lead & turns the Lead to a byproduct in the liquid mix of Lead Acetate .
So Do not handle a large amount of it with the bare hands & let it get into your system & don't drink it .

.
I have let a sealed Can soak overnight fully submerged in sealed container & with a couple times walking by & shaking/agitating it .
After about 12 hours time . It started to bubble (just a tiny little bit ) the DuraCoat coating on the outside .
Then I just blow it out with 200 psi on the air compressor & went shooting .
