Left Coast Leftist Loon Legislation: Cup Your Hands, or Bring a CamelBak

And all this straw hoopla is based on a 9 year old's report based on the best estimates he could come up with by surveying a few restaurants about how many straws they thought they used and extrapolating it out to the country, then the world. Unadulterated BS.

No straw, no customer, but at least your fish will be safe... that is until you catch it to eat it because you don't have a job because you drove off all your customers.

These eco-douches have done the same thing for people that care about the planet, and see real problems. As the far leftists has done for the democrat party.

I'm rooting for the harbor seals and the otters. Really, this at base, what we're going through right now, isn't even something that is fairly described as a soft coup, or a political/philosophical disagreement.

This is about decency and kindness versus the indecent and uncaring. It's about capital-G Good versus capital-E Evil. It's about what the heart and the soul know to be right, versus antiseptic, immoral calculus that clicks on and on in the dismal little clockwork guts of the worst of the Socialists and Anarchists.

Socialism, what an ironic name for such an antisocial movement.

I don't disagree, but don't forget that they see you as being capital-E Evil. Your refusal to virtue signal along with them means you're against them, and since they are for everything sweetness and light that means you are B-A-D.

If you had spoken to a German Nazi in the late 1930s they would have explained to you how they stood for virtue, justice, and all things good. They would have explained how all their beliefs were based on "science", and to disagree with them was to go against the very facts of the universe. That to deny how right and just they are is no different than denying simple physics. They rely on a new moral certainty, and in such a way can justify almost anything (and they did/will).

All these things are hallmarks of totalitarianism. They come in different flavors, but the one thing they have in common is a rejection of traditional morality, and the adoption of a "new" morality. It is always a refrain on the same themes.

There is nothing new under the sun. It's a merry go round, and being ignorant of history is the cause. If I could do one thing to reverse it I would nuke "social studies" from all public education and put back HISTORY, where it belongs. They repeat all these mistakes because they're totally ignorant of them. They have zero skepticism because they only know the history of now.

@Fig Well said, although more than I would have bothered to utter. Comparisons to the SA, etc. are obvious.

You have even more choices rather than just "If you had spoken to a German Nazi", you can just these days go talk to the new breed of Nazi revisionists which are becoming very popular, much as the Communist revisionists are all the rage...
Both will be happy to provide large amounts of glowing reports about the logic & social justice & scientific betterment of mankind their systems proposed, complete with wonderful posters and pictures.....
Of course they all like to leave out what a hell on earth both systems became for anyone not in the top ranks (and even some in the top ranks).

However nobody wants you to read history... I do mean just about nobody... as almost every political side & ideology & religion kind of doesn't want you to see how every great idealistic push for the "betterment of mankind" wound up creating it's own custom hell.

Surprisingly enough this period anti communist propaganda piece from American History, actually does a good job of explaining how everybody's favourite postulated ultimate social order will wind up being bad:

San Francisco, the city where a stinky load and several needles can be found every block, is doing their part to help the environment by banning straws. What kind of ironic, surreal sick joke of a story is this?

The plastic straw that broke our back.
I had long thought that I would die before the next civil war.

Regrettably
I have been known to be wrong on occasion.
