Leica Sport Optics Makes 30 Years of Pioneering Rangefinding with Remastered Geovid R Series

Leading German optics brand Leica Sport Optics has relaunched its renowned Geovid R series, 30 years after this pioneering combination of optical performance and precision laser rangefinder technology was first unveiled to the public. The perfect premium entry-level rangefinding binoculars with a value driven price point and all new look and feel, the Geovid R series has been updated with a new ergonomic design which puts the controls perfectly at the fingertips of the user. The low weight and compact design, combined with Leica’s best-in-class optics and precise laser technology means the relaunched Geovid R series is a reliable companion for hunters and shooters in any landscape and environment.

There are four models of rangefinding binoculars in the remastered Geovid R series, 8x42, 10x42, 8x56 and 15x56, to deliver accuracy over close, mid and long-range distances and in low light. With a measurement range of 2,000+ yds/1,800+ m and the Equivalent Horizontal Range (EHR) ballistics function giving the user significantly greater certainty of a well-placed shot, at any angle, these are the ideal rangefinding binoculars for anyone entering the Leica Geovid world. So, exactly what is the difference between the new and previous Leica 15x Geovid LRF binos?

So, exactly what is the difference between the new and previous Leica 15x Geovid LRF binos?
Leica took a tried and true entry level product, greatly improved it in laser, looks and ergonomics, AND dropped the price over 10%. -Germany says they didn’t change the glass from the old Rs at all, but internal sources feel they are improved, and after comparing, Germany thinks so too.

These are replacements to the old Rs, a $1599 price point bino -the entry level Geovid. They don’t have HD-B, COM, PRO glass or prisms. They are not, were not intended to be, nor will they never be comparable to HD-B/COM/PRO level products.

These are an excellent combo binocular/rangefinder, however, these are in no way in the league of the upper Leica series models

I've been looking for a LRF bino that's good value for money, simple (no ballistics or other features I'll never use, just need horizontal distance), and has decent glass. This seems to fit my needs but I have a question about the laser. I shoot rimfire competitions where we try to range very small targets from 50-400 yards. Does this laser have a more "focused" beam relative to it's competitors? Forgive my ignorance I'm sure that's not the right way to put it, I'm looking for a laser that will have a better chance of hitting the target instead of whatever's behind it. Is there even a meaningful difference between the different companies in this regard?
