Ok I have a crown vic right now. I'm turning it in and getting a new Impala. The Pelican case does not fit in the trunk so we use drag bags. But thats still kinda of a tight fit. I haven't had a chance to try to put my rifle in the truck yet. I have a Mcmillan stock with the full spacer system and 24'' barrel.

Anyone else have a Impala with a bolt gun in the trunk? Any fitting issues?

Thanks

Re: LEO Snipers, need some help.

Mine doesn't have a 24" barrel, but it fit fine with the 20" and a soft case. The SABR .458WM had to sit at an angle to fit, but all my gear did fit. BUT, I am sure glad I have a Tahoe now. The Impala with a cage was a motherf**ker!

Re: LEO Snipers, need some help.

I carried a Model 700 (Varment in 223. Redfield fixed 6X scope) I carried it in the truck. We had sort of extreme weather changes. (This was Anchorage AK).

As soon as I got a call, I get the gun out of the case (and trunk) and put it in the front seat with me. Ths scope would always get moisture on the lense, but it only took a few menutes for it to warm up enough where I could wipe the lenses. All this before I ever got on loacation.

As a side note. I used M193 Ball. This combination didn't care if it was summer or winter, I never lost my zero.

I was wondering how it'd all fit with the vest helmet, pack, ghillie, spotter, cones, spare tire, and entry weapon. I'll figure something out I guess. Thought about getting a vustom one built with 2.0 AICS

Now I didn't have a spare tire in the trunk. I used that space for items I didn't readily need and put a small square of plywood over it.
With my pack, rifles (AIAW, Weatherby .458), shotgun, M4 Commando, armor and helmet all fit. The small items were stored away in a 5 gallon bucket bolted to the driver side trunk. I also drilled a hole in the trunk lid on both sides to attach some bungees to for hanging items (not all the way through). Ammunition, clothing etc. was in the back seat...since we don't pick up prisoners or answer calls.
What sucks is when you get rear ended.
