Sidearms & Scatterguns Les bear Custom Carry 1911

Re: Les bear Custom Carry 1911

A few questions come to mind:

How does the condition of each compare?
Are you disappointed with your M1A?
Do you ever use your M1A?
Do you need a LesBaer pistol?
Would you carry it?
Have you shot the pistol?

Re: Les bear Custom Carry 1911

excellent condition
I do not need it or the M1A as I have a SCAR 17, i will more than likely resale the Les
I would not carry it, I all ready have a good Kimber

OP, note that 1) It's 'Baer', not 'bear'; and 2) If you carry the M1A people might get a bit freaked-out, but if you carry the Les Baer no one will notice.

Re: Les bear Custom Carry 1911

That sure is a purty Baer. Looks a lot like my Super-Tac. I am guessing that is hard chrome?

It is worth right around $2K. I don't know what the M1A is worth, but it sounds like a pretty even trade ($1750 for the M1A plus $250 additional for the stock?)

From a financial perspective, I don't think you are coming ahead. I would rather have the Baer and ditch the Kimber, but that is just me.

^^^ What he said. If the M1A is of no use to you I'd trade it for the Baer and then sell off the Kimber. Once you get your hands on the Baer, you'll start noticing all sorts of things that are "wrong" with the Kimber.

Re: Les bear Custom Carry 1911

Some of the Kimber Custom Royals- really early guns were pretty good shooters.

Even so I've shot the "GOLD MATCH" and yes it was an accurate pistol, but a Baer will whip a Kimber Gold Match any day of the week.

So I guess it depends on how good the kimber really is. If you can bench it and shoot a 8 round 1.875" group at 25 yards from bags, that's probably the way the Baer will be shooting. If not you have to compare the value of the two items and decide whether the better performance is worth the extra coin.

If you want to ditch the Royal for the Baer, I would say that's a reason to swap guns for the M1A. If you want to sell the Baer, I don't know if it will be all that much easier to sell than your M1A..

I mean that's a pretty nice M1A, and the Troy stock is a good looking/expensive, and at least used to be hard to find stock.

Re: Les bear Custom Carry 1911

That is a series I Kimber! Everyone here is so used to trashing the newer Kimbers that they failed to realize that pistol is from the '90s. That's a good gun.

That Les Baer looks nice, BUT

I've yet to come across a Les Baer with a barrel that is fit properly. Most of them that I've seen will not feed from the slide release, because they are too tight for the slide to close all the way.

If I had an $1800 rifle and I wanted a 1911, I would sell it and put the money toward a custom 1911. Or buy a Springfield TRP or STI and pocket the difference. I don't think I'd buy a Les Baer.
