I went out today and shot my 6 Creed. Once fired brass, H4350 and Berger 105 Hybrids loaded .020” off the lands using CCI 450 primers. All brass was annealed and FL sized.

Charges were 39.8, 40, 40.2, and 40.4 grains, each five rounds. These groups were shot at9 100 yards.

As far as nodes go, I want to believe that the node is ranging from 39.8 up to 40.4 as far as velocities go, and the inconsistancies in my reloading process are more than likely for the rounds that are exceedingly higher than the other rounds.

Am I right? Do I need to shoot more rounds to confirm?

The SD at 39.8 was 5. The SD at 40.4 was 1, I first you discount the one round at 3,077 as I’m not sure what happened there.

Looking at the target, the group at 39.8 was three rounds on top of each other and one low and left. The very first round went high because the trigger puller was .7 Mils high as he forgot to set the scope to zero since the last range trip. Velocities were 3005, 3007, 3002, 3013, and 2998 with an SD of 5.

40 grains wasn’t too bad, but the group did open up a bit. Velocities were 3039, 3002, 3046, 3004, and 3014 with an SD of 20.

At 40.2, the group was pretty nice, except the one flyer that went high. Velocities were 3002, 3042, 3002, 3033 and 3063.

At 40.4 grains, there is very little vertical at about .260”, with the exception of the high flyer which measured 3,077 fps. The windage was a bit rough, however, at just over an inch. Velocities for the other four shots were 3010, 3013, 3014, and 3013 with an SD of 1, sans first shot.

It seems there is something that I’m doing during my reloading process that is causing a variance in my velocities and I’m not sure what it is.

Also, the first two groups shot (39.8 and 40g) we’re fired before a windage adjustment on the scope.

The holes with the X drawn through them were where I attached my target to the target stand and are not bullet holes, with the exception of the high one at 39.8.

Any help reading this would be greatly appreciated.
