It's funny. The LA Times used to be the most conservative paper in the country. I remember when I was in college in Los Angeles taking a class on LA history to fulfill some obscure requirement. The teacher went on and on about how it was to the great shame of Los Angeles that it had had such a conservative paper.

To counter your argument, I would say their minds are not empty; they are overfilled. Overfilled with contradictory information.
It's a combination of a lot of things culminating together, but generally speaking most mental health folks or first year psych students would recognize the largest component as gaslighting. The abuser? The media.
Depending on how old you are you and who you are surrounded by -- you may or may not have seen this as it developed. That's not meant to be denigrating, most people probably wouldn't notice unless they saw someone close to them succumb to this.
I call it Media Anxiety Disorder; because these people have literally been driven mad. Imagine you live in a reality that has multiple realities. Each reality has different rules and those rules do not align. You do not know when you are in which reality or what rules to follow. The only rule that is consistent through the majority of these realities is that you must conform. Meaning, you do what you see and agree with what you are told; or else.
The easiest example is the Hunter Biden thing. See, the media will tell a lie -- they know it's a lie, there is overwhelming evidence to contradict the media's claims. But you must accept and promote that lie; or else. Then, a month or two later -- they tell you it's true. But they weren't wrong, you were wrong. You weren't listening right, the information is different. They were doing a good thing. They protected you. You now literally have three realities in your head and none of the three can exist while the other being true.
Multiply that by a million and that's the nightmare that is inside the head of these folks. I'm not saying that to be mean or facetious, I'm saying they are literal victims of mental abuse. Not something to be taken lightly, I'm not kidding when I say that many of these people likely have neurological damage.
I think this article is a perfect example of how this disease spreads in that you are required to spread it... or else. Clearly this person has some serious issues because they think their behavior and perspective is not just normal, it's virtuous.

It's been several years since I decided that I would absolutely not lift a finger to help anyone who I know is a democrat, no matter how dire their predicament. Even if they've been good to me before. Even if their life is in the balance.
Now, before ever getting involved in anything that might benefit someone I don't personally know, the first question out of my mouth is "who did you vote for"?
That's how far I've come to absolutely despise and hate anyone who is even the slightest left of center.
I can't go that far, but I do find that if I am looking at somebody to do work around my property, and they have left wing facebook crap, it is almost assured that I won't hire them. As far as helping people, I will continue to be as nice as possible to everybody I know. Hell, my only Democrat neighbor plowed me out for two years without any comment or anything, and I would sure as hell do the same for him.
