let's talk 7.62x39s

Was thinking of adding a x39 bolt gun to the stable for plinking, pig hunting etc.. Other than CZ, who has a good inexpensive option? Ruger, Howa come to mind and with black friday approaching, definitely looking

I'm a little curious why you are looking at something besides the CZ 527. I've always thought that was the coolest little rifle in that caliber. Kind of like a miniature Mauser. Been tempted to get one for years. Just need to find some reason.

I'm a big cz fan, have plenty of their stuff but also looking to add something cheap that I can knock around etc etc.. The cz just looks too nice...lol

Get two CZs then. A knock around one and a "nice" one. That's what I did with 1911s

I have one in a Howa mini action that I had the barrel chopped to 16.125", and love it. With 124gr JHP steel case it'll usually group 1-1.5 MOA, and with my 150 gr hand loads it'll do the same. It does NOT like Tula 154gr soft points, and patterns them around 3 MOA.

Been down this road and my favorite is the Hawkeye Ultra Light Ruger. The Howa mags are proprietary horseshit. And I own 3.
