Does anyone know anything about the Leupold's European 30 line of scopes? So far I have learned that they have a 30mm tube, duplex or German reticle, and 1cm @ 100m clicks. I'm trying to find out what glass they use on these and how it compares to the VX lines. Has anyone used this before? Any more info appreciated. My friend is considering the 4-12x40. Thanks-MSD

Re: leupold european 30 scope???

Mike, any chance you can take a closer look at one and see how the glass is? I am his "advisor" in choosing a new rifle and optics. This fits his price point and needs perfectly. I just hate to have him get vx-1 glass when he's expecting vx-3 quality. I will send him your way when he's ready to order. Anyone else seen or used one?

Re: leupold european 30 scope???

MSD,

I have had a 3-9x50 Euro 30 for three years now and I find the Glass to be very nice. I do not own any other Leopold scopes, but it is the second best of all my scopes.
I own an IOR 4-14x50 30mm Tact (#1), 3-9x50 leup euro 30 (#2), Bushnell elite 3200 3-9x50 30mm tube (#3), ~10 yr old Simmons AETEC 3.8-12x40AO (#4)

I do not have any problem seeing well past legal hunting hours with the Leupold. I would definately go with it again since the price is significantly lower now than when I bought mine!!
I think the price drop is from a lack of popularity in the US.

One more thing, the adjustment for windage/elevation (turrets? brain fart and I can't remember what they are called) are crappy! the zero indicator is an aluminum disk that slips around with finger pressure only. possibly moving and making it appear that youv'e lost zero. I am not talking about the "clicks", they are typical Leupold (good), its the indicator dial that has the tick marks and zero mark.

Not a huge deal to me on a hunter scope (not adjusting win/elev in the field)
