How do these bases compare to Warne bases?

I read on the Leupold site that these bases have a 15MOA slope. I already have Leupold Mark Medium rings and know that a Warne 20MOA base would work with my set-up. Now I'm considering the Leupold bases because I won't be shooting extreme ranges and 15MOA seem to be a good compromise.

How would the Leupold rings and bases work on my Remington AAC-SD with Viper PST 4-16x50? Will the set-up be as low as possible with enough room for Butler Creek caps?

If there is a weak link in your proprosed plan, it would rest on how true the holes in your rifles action are. The base and rings are good to go. I think they are more expensive than Warne, I don't know that it translates to better, but they certainly are not worse.

Re: Leupold Mark 4 One Piece Base

I have the Mark 4 15 MOA base and Mark 4 high rings on my 5R Milspec.

Leupold recommends high rings with 50mm scopes, and medium rings with 40mm (they don't make Mark 4 low rings).

My USO ST-10 has a really fat AO compared to most 50mm scopes, and the medium rings were just a fraction too low.

I would guess that if your Viper is about the same OD as a Leupold 50mm, you'll probably be okay with medium Mark 4 rings.

The Vortex's OD is 2.2" and Leupold 50mm is 2.3" so I guess the medium rings would be fine. I tend to think that rings and rails from the same manufacturer would work best together............

Just wanted to clear up that my ST-10 isn't a 50mm scope, but the AO is like a piece of pipe, so the OD is actually larger than my Mark 4 50mm.

In theory, anything machined to the Picatinny 1913 spec should interchange. In real life, I've had a couple of issues with ring/base compatibility. Since I had some extra Mark 4 rings, I got the Mark 4 rail for the same reasons you've mentioned - chances are they would work well together - and they do.
