I have a Remington 700 VS with a Ken Farrell 20MOA base thinking of getting a Leupold mark 6 3-18x44TMR,wondering if the IMS would work,without going rings only,anyone have any comments.

The IMS mounts are geared toward AR type rifles. It would work but you will end up with the scope uncomfortably high using the IMS on a 700, especially with a 20-MOA base.
Why ya thinking of going with a IMS? if you're needing to swap the scope to different rifles, LaRue makes a great QD mount for that.
You got a nice base already, get some nice rings Badger or Leupold Mark4's ... They both use a 1/2" wrench/socket to take on-off pretty quick.
