Rifle Scopes Leupold Mistake…

A week ago I posted that I sent a VX-3 8.5-25x50 to the Leupold Custom Shop to have the M5 turrets and Mil-Dot reticle installed.

After first speaking with a technician who assured me the M5 (.1 mil) turret could be added to my scope, I mailed it to Leupold's headquarters in Oregon. A few days later I received an email requesting I call Leupold to make payment, so I did.

Today, I received another call from someone at Leupold informing me that the M5 turrets can't be installed on a scope of this power. Her words.

I asked her if I could have the new MOA reticle installed to which she informed me that also wasn't available for my scope. When I asked her if I could do anything to make a mil/mil or moa/moa system, she politely said, "no."


If you are considering having M5 turrets installed on your VX3 8.5-25x50, you cannot, despite what their technicians may tell you. So save your shipping money!

Thats unfortunate.

I had a similar issue in the past with a Leupold "expert" and caused a delay of my turret install. Best bet is to always ask for someone in the custom shop. They are the ones that do the work.

I still like their products though.

I had a 4.5-14x50 changed to the M5 turrets. It took a couple of phone calls with both yes's and no's before I got a definite yes. I would suggest calling in again and double checking with another rep at Leupold. Obviously not the way things should go but if you can get the M5's, they make the scope way more better.

i got the same back and forth, i gave up. done with leupold except for hunting scopes, or a Mk 6

This is really similar to a situation I had with Leupold. One person says "yes" we can do that, next person says "no" we can not do that, third person says "no" we can not do that. Majority won in my case, and I said "no" I will never buy another Leupold product again.
