Rifle Scopes Leupold mx3 ultra question

I have a 1987 Leupold mx3 ultra for an m24 and it had a m118 dial on it , does anyone know if this dial is for 168 m118 or 175gr ?

I would think it would have to be stamped “M118LR” to coincide with the military 175g AA11 load. M118 used a 173g projectile as was referred to as M118 Special Ball. I believe the 168 smk was used in the M852 load.

It say m118 which leads me to believe it could be 168gr

I’d check with Leupold if you really want to be sure.

Like I said, M118 was the designation for the 173g special ball match load that was being issued at the time to M24 and M21 end users in the Army and elsewhere.

Oh okay thanks for the info ! My next question is if it’s for 173gr how off will the dial be for 175gr ?

There’s only one way to find out.

My guess is that it would be pretty close to the 175 until about 500 or so then significant differences would begin to appear. Again, just a guess on my part.
