Based on some of the posts on here I almost hate to ask this question. Seems like athere are lot of Leupold haters out there.

Can someone tell me what the equalivate is to a older (5-7 yr) Var-X II Is the VX-3 equal to the Var-XII or is it the other way around?

Re: Leupold question

My Vari-X II is pretty similar to the VX-IIs out now. It's in-between the VX-I and VX-II, but closer to the II.

I love my old Vari-X II. Stamped "Made in USA" and tough as nails. Oh the glory days...

I'm not a Leupold hater either, but it seems like Leupold keeps giving us the ammunition...I'm just sayin'

Re: Leupold question

I like the Leupold. I would also agree somewhere between the VX-1 and VX-2, but close to the VX-2 line.

I have had very minimal problems with my Leupold scopes, have them on probably 90% of my long guns.

The Vari-X II line was discontinued more than 5-7 years ago. IIRC, the Vari-X IIs' were replaced by the VX IIs' somewhere between 1994-1996. I would have to consult my old Leupold catalogs (yes - I have old catalogs I keep for reference). I remember a lot but not everything.

As <span style="font-style: italic">USACS</span> said, the Vari-X II is closeest to the VX II in features and speciifcations. The old Vari-X IIs' had magnesium floride lenses throughout and 1/2 MOA "friction" adjustments on the Elevation and Windage. The VX IIs' came from the factory with all lenses "fully multi-coated" and 1/4 MOA click adjustments.
