Rifle Scopes leupold rx 3 question

Re: leupold rx 3 question

Good luck with that. I had a Leupold RX4 and could not get it to work on a huge metal trailer at less than 700 yards.

Reflective would be something that would reflect light.

Re: leupold rx 3 question

Technically, yes...a truck would be pretty reflective. Unfortunately, I hope your experiences with the RX3 are better than most people. They work okay out to around 600-700, but past that, you are pushing the capabilities of the RX3.

Re: leupold rx 3 question

You can try it out and see what results you are able to get at 1,000yds...but unfortunately, my guess is that you are S.O.L. with the RX3 at that range.

I'd try to sell the RX3 and look into picking up a used Leica 1200 Scan, Leica CRF, a Zeiss PRF or if you can spare the cash, get the Swaro Laserguide.

Re: leupold rx 3 question

i pretty much broke the bank to get this. im guessessing that if the leupold doesnt work as advertised neither do the cheaper ones.

also if it doesn't work at the ranges advertised will leupold fix it?

Re: leupold rx 3 question

All you can do is try it out and see if you got one of the rare units that will actually work as advertised. If it doesn't range a reflective target to the distance promised by Leupold...send it back and see what they can do for you. I have had excellent results from Leupold on scopes that I have sent back in for service, but can't comment on their ability to fix rangefinders as I have never sent one in.

As for "cheaper" rangefinders...as with all things optic-related...you get what you pay for!! As a said before, try to ditch the RX3 on eGay or a similar site (probably won't fly well here) and pick up a used Leica 1200 Scan, a used Leica CRF, a demo Zeiss PRF (try Doug at CameralandNY...he is a sponsor here) or if you can spare the cash, get the Swaro Laserguide (SWFA has some excellent demo units for $599). Those are the only units that I would recommend that will consistently range the objects and the distances you are looking to hit.

Re: leupold rx 3 question

If it don't work sell it and try to buy the Bushnell elite 1500. While not as nice and the Leica, it is still a pretty good unit. The ones I have played with easily range beyond 1200 yards even on small targets.

Re: leupold rx 3 question

i haven't really tried mine yet. hopfully it will work as advertised. ive ranged out to 350-400 with no problems but i haven't started building the range i bought it for so ill keep ya posted
