Rifle Scopes Leupold scope date question

I little while ago I bought a used Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20x40 EFR. From Leupold's site using the letter in the serial number I have found that it was made in '92.
Is this before or after Leupold started subbing out to China?

If your scope was made in 1992 by the letter date code, look just above it, it will say "Made In USA". If it does not, then it was not.
