I had problem with mounting Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 using the Leupold IMS Mark 2 mount, ran out of vertical adjustments when tried to sight in at 100 yard.
Same problem again with new VX-R patrol 3-9x40 using Leupold IMS Mark 4 mount, also ran out of vertical adjustments.
Seems Leupold did not really provide enough travels in their mounts to use with their scopes, although both scopes (Mark AR & VX-R patrol) and mounts (IMS Mark 2 and Mark 4) are both supposedly designed to mount on AR type rifles.
If you are considering these two 3-9x40 scopes (Mark AR MOD1 & VX-R Patrol) for your AR, make sure you use a mount that allows enough vertical travels as both scopes have only around 60 MOA adjustments and not sufficient to use with Leupold's own IMS mounts.
