Sent my Mark 4 8.5-25 off today. Specs are for 75MOA elevation and 45MOA windage....Mine was the opposite and 45MOA of elevation doesn't cut it on a 30MOA base. FWIW, this is not a made in USA marked scope. Hopefully just a manufacturing mistake and not indicative of Leupy quality to come. This is the first time I've had an issue with a Leupold scope. I hope the service department's reputation holds true...

It sure seems to be as of late.

Re: Leupold with reversed elevation/windage

Hi i am just asking i though5t all Mark 4's were marked with made in the USA?
i might be wrong I hope you did not get a copy they have had issues like that but Leupold will tell you straight away if that is not the case.

Hope it is a real Mark4 and that it is fixed for you or replaced straight away so you have the scope you paid for.

Re: Leupold with reversed elevation/windage

Wild Bill,

Thanks for the concern, but it is without a doubt a real Mark 4. Unfortunately nowadays, they don't contain enough American made parts to wear the Made in USA writing. I'm not sure what country they outsource to, but it's probably not one I would choose. All of my other Leupolds have served me well. Some are Made in USA, some are not. The thing they have going for me is consistancy. All of my tactical scopes but 2 are M1 knobs with Mildot reticles. The 2 that are different are M3 knobs with Mildot reticles. Saves me some confusion when going back and forth from rifle to rifle and trying to remember if I need to go 2 or 3 revolutions to get the elevation I need.

Lucky is not something often associated with me. I have had a bunch of various Laupold scopes and used some of them quite hard. Never a problem. From older ones to more recent ones, they have all been great scopes. You have to realize that since Leupy is half or less the cost of some of the more popular optics here, that many more of them are in service. So it is to be expected to see a higher number of issues. Plus, when certain members bash things, it causes lots of other guys to want to do the same thing. Think bandwagon.

I am not saying they are perfect, but I have owned most all the major brands from S&B down and I consider Leupy to be a great bang for buck optic. I dont know if their quality is decreasing, but if it is I certainly havent seen it.

Re: Leupold with reversed elevation/windage

Well, my MK4 3.5-10x took a dump 1 month to the day I bought it. Wouldnt hold zero for shit, on a .308 mind you, not some huge magnum. I sold it right after Leupold replaced it.

Laupold and Nightforce are in the same price range, I see NO reason to go Leupold over NF! NONE!

Re: Leupold with reversed elevation/windage

USMCj,

How was your dealings with the service dept.? I see they replaced your scope for you but was it an easy transaction? This is the first time I've had to use them and my scope has yet to arrive.

Are you sure that you didn't mount it with the windage knob on the left?
