Hunting & Fishing Leupy 3.5-10 or 4.5-14 M1 on 7RM?

Hey fellas, for those that would have no reservations with using a Leupold.....

Which would you recommend on a hunting weight in 7RM, 9-9.5lbs all up?

MK4/LR 3.5-10x40 M1 or MK4/LR 4.5-14x40 target knobs?

Gonna pull dual purpose with informal extended range metal plinking and hunting (hogs/deer/elk).

Yeah, I know there are prolly OTHER options but sticking with the Golden Ring....for now....

I'm all ears....!

3-10, great eye relief, plenty magnification to shoot game to 600 and then some if needed.

The 4.5-14X40 is actually smaller and lighter than the 3.5-10X40. Just throwing that out there.

If you go with the target knob model, you may get frustrated having to take the caps off in the field. Other than that, I'd rather have a 4.5-14x.

The target knobs also take up quite a bit of space in the safe/cabinet an case.

That being said I have 4.5-14's leup's on most of my rifles now. An slowly converting them all to the LR versions.In that thought if you satisified with a 1" tube an the target knobs pm me an we can work out a deal on one.

If you are planning on doing horseback trips, the target knobs do not fit in normal scabbard. I like the 4.5x14 but just do not like the target knobs on my hunting rifle... I know they are handy to have.

Ive got the 4.5-14x40 TT and I like it. others I know have the 50mm versions with M1s and I may go that way in the future but for now the target turrets are awesome in the thick shit, ie dont get knocked/moved

I shoot a MK4: 4.5-14x40 LR/T MilDot and love it. It will ride atop a Rem 700 in 7RM this fall. I think it's a great combination.

4.5x14 all the way. I had a Vari x III 4.5x14 with target dot on my 7mm mag. That thing was surgical in the mountains.

My favorite scopes on my hunting rigs are 4.5x14s and 4x16s. The perfect range for the versitility I need. There are no brushy close up shots here, all ridge top spot and stalk, so 99% of the time I shoot right around 12x. With the caliber choice you are probably in some open country as well.
