Rifle Scopes Leupy VX-R scope ...?

Am still looking to scope my M1A SM with a low-powered optic and wanted to stay under $500. Sold the Millet I had and both the Vortex 1-4xs and the Burris 1-4x tactical line was recommended.

I came across the Leupy 2-7x33mm VX-R (30mm tube) with the illum ballistic firedot reticle.

This scope offers a bit more magnification than the 1-4xs, but I don't know anything about these particular Leupys. The VX-Rs don't appear to be a "tactical" scope model and I wasn't sure about ranging capability with the ballistic firedot reticle.

Anyone have any experience with these scopes - good or bad?

It's an excellent, new-model scope. Great combination of quality with illumination at a reasonable price.

Look at the "Leupold VX-R patrolman"

1.25-4x in mil/mil Spr reticle
3-9 mil/mil Tmr

The VX-R <span style="text-decoration: underline">PATROL</span>, this may help you find it.</div></div> got to agree with this choice. I got a VX-R Patrol Man in 3 x 9 with the TMR reticle and .1 Mil elevation and windage. I love the fire dot for hunting purposes.

I believe the PATROL is one scope, maybe the patrolman is another model of the VX-R, I haven't found any info on.

You are correct it's the "Patrol" not "Patrolman" Sorry for my mistake I've only looked at it one time and was recalling from memory which failed me.

So does anyone have and first hand experience with these scopes? Seems like a nice choice for a Ar-15.

I'm leaning toward the 1.25-4x VX-R for a more tactical set-up, but am liking the 3-9x VX-R Patrol for more precision; however, most of the shots I'd ever be taking with this rifle aren't really all that far out - i.e, 400 yds max.

Recommendations from the optics gurus appreciated ...
