license to buy any gun

Q: Are current or honorably discharged members of the armed forces exempt?

A: No. Only current law enforcement and those members retired in good standing are exempt.

....why?.....

i dont agree with it but i can at least understand the argument for a police exemption.......but why retired police?....what does a retired cop need a gun for that a regular citizen doesnt?..........are retired police more "qualified" than retired (or current) MIL?

or are citizens just not part of the samurai class privileged enough to carry swords?

As a guy from Maryland (no longer) and a guy who works in a gun shop there. Its a TAX. First it requires you to take a course (thankfully the course has minimal standards but that's a duel edge sword full of bad instructors). The costs average in the $100 range Second you have to be finger printed digitally (Live Scan) which does the background check. It costs $55. THEN you have to complete an on line application (not the easiest to navigate) and pay the $50 fee. After a month or so (since submitting the application) you get your HQL )Handgun Qualification License) which allows you to purchase one handgun a month for ten years; BUT theres still a 7 day "Cooling Off" period before you can actually take possession of your handgun.

We have no clue how the Long Gun License will turn out. No idea if having a HQL will mean you mean you don't need a Long Gun License. No idea if the current exemptions (retired military and police, etc) will still be exempted. No idea if the training exemptions (don't need to take the course) like former but not retired military, previously purchased firearm etc will still be in effect.

The REAL issue is that prior to this there were NO records easily available to the police of long gun ownership. Previously law enforcement could do a check of handgun ownership but NOT long guns......and of course NONE of that applies to people that don't pay attention to LAWS.

DUH. So they enforce it

Frankly Im hoping Marylanders will realize they can carry Cap and Ball revolvers, since they aren't firearms. Also Tasers are surprisingly LEGAL to wear, carry, and conceal for self defense...BUT wait for it; to buy a Taser in Maryland you have to pass a background check except the Police/FBI wont do a criminal check for non-firearms.

Guys these aren’t laws YET. They haven’t even passed both houses yet. Yes they are BS but I suspect there might be some changes before they are signed.

As far as police enforcement, I do think they will fall into line. Police Chiefs in Maryland tow the party line. One former Chief testified to congress after Sandy Hook. He LIED about gun violence stats. He later pulled the “I miss remembered” line but it was a LIE. Additionally the new breed of cops are not gun types. Most never fired a gun before being hired and more don’t even take their guns home. I’ve heard them say shite like “why do THEY (meaning YOU) need guns like that (ARs)?” About five years ago the hiring policy of my old department was changed from hiring the best of the applicants to hiring applicants that look like the population we serve. We had one guy who barely spoke English but he was pushed through. After three attempts at field training he was finally told to find another field of employment (they sent him to crime lab so no one could say they fired him).

You can start Mag flakes very easily with a flint rock or anything better,...

edit to add,... get some iron oxide to go with that Alum, grind both to 350-400 screen mix 50/50 good for welding shit up or burning threw depending how you set the burn cup up.

350-400!!...I have nothing that fine. I will keep that in mind next time. I am new at welding. What is the purpose of the iron oxide. Does it help with oxidation?

Yes, the two mixed make thermite . Adding sugar an potassium permanganate in the right amounts gets very interesting. Also std antifreeze mixed with potassium permanganate is a very good fire starter with a built in delay, mixed properly.
