I have been looking for an extremely lightweight 223 barrel blank. it is for a 580 Remington conversion in 5.7x28. -
here are the specs I would want. 1-7 or 1-8 twist, 16" long 1" at the breach and whatever contour is lightest while being reasonably safe, I would not be opposed to an aluminum shroud or carbon shroud etc.
I have some commercial carbon fiber tubes and I am going to build a mini tube gun stock . with the low recoil of the 5.7 cartridge I think they will work well.
really this is an exercise in how light I can get a small singleshot centerfire rifle . if bushmaster can make an ar15 at 3.9 pounds I should be able to get under 3 lbs ready to fire without a scope.
