Ive recently bought my wife a DDv5 and need optics and mounts for it. I don't have a shop close to be able to pick up and look at a bunch of options so i came here. I need something light for her to be able to walk and hunt with. I would like something in 3-9 or 2.5-10 range. I like the Vortex pst but not sure if its my best option. Like i said Im going for weight. She won't take shots out past 200 and will be shooting at hogs, deer and varmints. On the mount i have no idea what is the lightest or best. Pretty sure I want a 30mm though. Any suggestions help. Thanks guys.

Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40 in a set of alloy rings would be under 21 oz, and have a brighter lowlight image than the Vortex 2.5-10x32, although the Vortex is a nice scope also.

The Leupold lacks parallax adjust, but is great for an AR that will be a hunting scope for 200 yards or less. In that context I would prefer the SFP reticle of the Leupold as well over the FFP in the Vortex. Hard to hit a moving animal with a thin FFP reticle dialed down.

Another great option for a higher budget would be the Nightforce 2.5-10x42.
