US Supreme court shutdown Limewire yesterday and was wondering if anyone can suggest an alternative music sharing site?

Re: Limewire shutdown

Damn! That's gonna hurt my business. My customers get most of their viruses from Limewire.

Binary Usenet and Bit Torrents work well.

Re: Limewire shutdown

Amazon. They have this great idea where you can give a donation - usually around $.99 per song or slightly less per song for an entire album - and they have almost everything.

Sorry man, I'm messing with ya.

I haven't used P2P sites in so long I couldn't recommend anything to you. Good luck in your hunt, though.

What he said.
You have to be careful with all of them.
I like TPB because the comments will usually out any Trojans.
I like Usenet for its speed and retention (premium subscription).

Re: Limewire shutdown

YOU FUCKING DUMBASS!

It's not stealing you pay for it by letting all the adds run on your computer while you use limewire or you buy limewire pro.

Re: Limewire shutdown

People can download music from Limewire? Damn, all this time wasted on porn.

Really though, I've never used any of these programs, I'm even afraid of torrents, too many viruses if music was worth buying I would rather just buy it than deal with the brain-damage of a FUBAR'd computer.

Re: Limewire shutdown

For a payed service, I have yet to see anything come close to newsgroups. Maxing out your connection and no P2P BS FTW.

Would a good waxing help?

Re: Limewire shutdown

I've only been using torrents for a long time now. Recommend that!

Re: Limewire shutdown

Limewire is a virus waiting to happen. You can't even bitch when you get one because you are the one that clicked on it and told it d/l to your pc. Learn to utilize the blumillion torrents out there. And while you are at it, something to scan the file before you download it will keep your ass out of a lot of trouble.

Re: Limewire shutdown

What's the matter? Can't find the songs you like on Youtube? When it comes to music, I think youtube could easily surpass any P2P software out there if you want to download without having it traced back to you easily. Anything you watch on youtube is downloaded to your computer, they can't prove that you converted it to Mp3 for personal use unless you admit to it and turn yourself in.

Re: Limewire shutdown

Virus infection is more likely than getting busted d/l'ing a few of your favorite albums. That is why you need software to scan it for malicious data before you download it.

That is, if you were talking to me

No, I wasn't talking to you, I read the whole thread but my reply was meant for the OP. I should have hit reply on his post, or at least quoted him so it would be known. Sorry 'bout the confusion.

HAHAHAHA That's hilarious.

But it's true, 80% of all PC's I touch have Limewire on them....

Re: Limewire shutdown

I haven't gotten any viri from downloading. All my viri have come from websites with malicious code that got put on them from banner ads to other things. On my personal computers I typically have a recent backup around, and i'll just use it as an excuse to format, and start a clean slate on the HD to get all the performance back on the computer.

piratebay was really bad there for a while, I started running some AV and spyware when i'd be visiting there because all sorts of weird things would happen.

If someone has limewire, it's a oppotunity to teach them about torrents. I also don't bother downloading movies anymore. I can find most anything on stagevu.
