LMT MWS 308 buffer, Ammo question.

Hi everyone, I received my new LMT MWS 308 and I've noticed kinda big scratch mark on the buffer, Is this normal ? Also in my area I can't find a decent 308 ammo, the only thing I found is the steel ones. Can I use a few like 50rounds to test the riffle till I get more decent ones ?

Normal mine has a circle etched on the front of the buffer from the carrier hitting it. As for the ammo shoot whatever. The better the ammo the better the results. For plinking your fine
