a guy just came in the shop with one, that is an awesome rifle. the balance was good, it didn't seem like a 9lb gun to me, but what really got my attention was a target with 15 shots inside a one inch circle. i don't have to tell you, i'm going to have to get one.

Re: LMT MWS... wow

16" CL barrel, standard for the MWS.....I was the one with the rifle...the target was shot with FGM 168 grain, 100 yards

I added a PWS brake, PWS FSC30, which made it a really different rifle...

For those of you looking for optics, the team at Sport Optics is who you need to be dealing with, what a great bunch of guys...

Jay took a lot of time to show me some scopes, when I went in I had two scopes in mind, NF and USO, after looking at the NF 2.5-10 x 32, I really do believe the scope is made for the MWS or the MWS is made for the 2.5-10 scope, however you look at it. I will be getting this one for the MWS. This is going to make a great set up for my 100-500 yard shooting, and beyond if the chance arises.

If you have never shot or seen a LMT MWS, do yourself a favor and find one, it is by far the finest rifle I have ever owned, and I have owned and shot many of rifles in the past.

LMT really did the home work on this one....

glad you saw the post, i didn't want to use your name and didn't remember your handle, i'd love to get this thing to weight about 11 lbs scoped, i'm calling lmt tomorrow to see if it's possible

Re: LMT MWS... wow

It'll be tough to weigh in at 11 pounds loaded. You can shave about a quarter pound switching from the SOPMOD to an ACS or a half pound if you go to a MOE/CTR but in my opinion, the latter throws the balance off. There's alot of weight in the barrel extension as well as the first 2-3" of the handguard but it's necessary to make the quick change barrel system work. I've heard of people turning their barrels down however the results aren't great for the amount paid. I've seen anywhere from 1/3-1/2lb weight savings turning the barrel down. I've got a chrome-lined MWS in stock if you need one.

Re: LMT MWS... wow

I turned one down to .70 for a guy not sure what the weight savings was but the balance improved considerably.

That said mine is staying the way it is I have no issues with it.

They shoot.

Gave it a try over the weekend at a mover/holdover clinic and it was point & click to 600y.

I thought I *needed* the SS 20" barrel but I'm finding myself hard pressed to justify any improvements at the moment.

I'm running the NF 2.5-10X32 on my MWS and it is a great combo, still easy to pics up a 8X10 plate in a shadow at 550 with no paint on it. I have to give the combo a big thumbs up.

Re: LMT MWS... wow

Doc,

That sounds like the right combo....please reply back with what rings/mounts you have and what height.

Another great purchase I made and received yesterday is a Seekonk torque wrench, 140 in-lbs, model MR-1, tried it out last evening and this thing works great....good thing is it works for all of my MRP's, 5.56 and the MWS. Replaces the cheaper model that ships with the MWS.
