So I have been working up some loads for my G2 hunter and these are the targets from today.
IMR 4064
Hornady 178 ELD
CCI BR2
LC 15 brass
The low flyers were me. All groups are otherwise 5 shots. Shot round-robin at 100 yds.
From what I can gather about other people's loads, these are a bit light, however, I have previously chono'd the 40.0 gr load at 2450 (borrowed chrono so I don't have numbers on these). My gun has pierced primers on factory ammo, and seems to pierce primers at lower charges than it "should". I probably will never shoot this past 600 yards or so, but the performance nerd in me wants a 1000 yard capable load. According to JBM, I should be supersonic at my altitude (~3500') past 1k at 2450 with these bullets. I think. Maybe.
The 40.4 group shows promise, I will need to retest that to see if it was me causing the horizontal spread, which measured about 0.915
Any input and/or advice is welcome.
The gun is mostly for hunting, that is kinda why I chose the ELDs, since they make an ELD-X in the same weight. I also want to do some precision rifle classes at some point, and I really like this gun, but want a load that would be suitable.
