Night Vision Load development with a thermal?

I have a new bolt rifle that I am going to mount a thermal on. It will be my dedicated night gun. I need to work up a good load for this rifle as I have not even fired it yet. I am not that familiar and experienced with thermals. Is this doable with the thermal or would I be better off mounting a normal scope on it first to fine tune the load and then switch to the thermal?

Thanks. That is what I was thinking would be best but didn’t want to add an extra step if not necessary.

Toss a day scope on it until you have a load worked up for it. Then swap the thermal on and zero.
What he ^^^ said.

I did load development on my 6 ARC with a high-powered scope, then put on my thermal and zero'd it once I had a really well-established load.
