Load for 178gr A-Max w/Varget and speed

Trying 178gr vs 168gr A-Max in my Tikka T3 Tactical 24". Any feedback folks have with this bullet and powder would be great

42.5-43 in heavy brass, 43-43.5 in light brass, 2.78-2.8 COAL should give you around 2600fps (it is between 2450-2480 for me depending temperature and brass type out of an 18").

10 pages of .308 loads at the top of the page in the Snipers Hide Reloading Depot. There are 178 AMAX loads in there.

I just copied Rob's pet load with the A-Max and Varget and it works under MOA all day long for me. But if your reloading go out and do some testing and find what works in your rifle.

42.4grn lap brass, 26" tube, 1-10 twist @2630fps
Works for me

I just did a 178 AMAX test and the best results I got were with:

Case: Hornady TAP (once-fired)
Bullet: 178 AMAX
Primer: CCI-200 LR
Powder: Varget at 43.7 grains
CL: 2.015"
COAL: 2.800"

23.5 inch barrel at 2646 fps velocity.

100 yard group was .304"
