In the next month I'll be hanging with some friends who are reloaders and I'm just getting into it and am looking for a good place to stsrt. I'm shooting this Tikka 6.5CM in the 24" stainless which I believe is about a .8" barrell at the end. Has a custom brake and chassis, is otherwise stock. It has been inspected by my smith and he says it should shoot great.
If it helps, for factory ammo, Winchester Match (my former go to) 140 sierra kings, has not been good in this gun. But formerly shot awesome in my previous gun which was a Savage with a Proof barrel, dime size holes at 100 yards no problem truly a tac driver, with the same scope now on this Tikka. I hear Hornady ELD Match 140 is great in this gun.
I hear a slow burning powder like 4350 and slow burning primers are good. I have 140 and 150 grain bullets and a few hundred well prepped once fired cases. I like the sierra bullets but am happy to try anything.
All ears on your recommendations.
thanks
