I have a Savage 10FP .308 with the new centerfeed internal magazine. When I go to load my 5th round I have difficulty and I can’t help but think its user error. So I am left wondering what is the correct way to load my 5th round. Here is what is happening to me, I load the first 4 rounds with no problem. Next, I place the 5th round in the chamber and start to close my bolt which starts the ramping process of the round in the magazine (creating a jamming effect with the chambered round). The only successful way I have been able to load 5 rounds is to slide the 5th round into the chamber and manually depress the 4th round in the magazine down some with my thumb while trying to close the bolt with my other hand. I feel silly

having to ask but what am I missing?

Re: Loading Technique

That's pretty much the only way I've ever done it - push down the top round in the internal magazine so that you make sure the bolt slides over it. If you weren't having this "problem" I'd say there's something wrong with your feeding setup...or your magazine holds more than 4 rounds...

Re: Loading Technique

Thats what I do. The mag only holds 4 I believe so you can't do much besides switch to a DBM or just depress the top round in the mag as you are currently doing... I don't really think its a big deal.
