loads for rem 700 sps 223 26" 1-12

what are some good loads for my new stick a rem 700 sps 26" 223 1-12. what grain am i limited to with the 12 twist?


eta: powders I have
varget, RL15 ,RL17, RL19, RL22, benchmark, 3031, 4320, 4350,748,760 and 4064

lets see.40g-about a 60 grainer.varget,r15,4064,4007,benchmark have all worked for me.27.5g of varget with a 55gnbt works real good.just load up to this because it is a compressed load.25.5g of 4064 has worked good with 52-55g bullets.look on hodgden.com many of their loads have been loads to work good enough for me.the one rifel I have is all so a 1:12 twist,but only 0 20" barrel.the 4007 worked in my 1:9 twist barrel in a 223.and I use nothing but mag primers,CCI450's.good luck.

I would give Win 748 a try with just about any of the bullet weights, I have used it in several different rifles with bullets anywhere between 40-52grs, currently Im shooting a 40gr V-Max out of a 700VS, Im a big fan of the 223 its so easy to load for, the problem lies in finding a load that wont work.

Alway work your load up. you should find an accuracy node around 43ish grain. You can also try this with RL-15.

Sounds like a good .308 load. The OP is loading for a .223 though. LOL

25.1g of N133 with 53g SMK worked best for me.

I use 25g of h335 and a 52g sierra hpbt match with cci standard small rifle primers.
I cut my barrel off at 22.5" and it averages about 1/2" at 200 yards

I am working on a load right now with 4064 with Barns TSX 168 grain in Lapua Brass i hope i can get out and test them next week.

50 Grain Hornady V-Max
.30 3 Shot Groups
.50 5 shoot groups

I use the exact same recipe for my 52 Grain Sierra HPBT but with LC-06 Brass and a 2.240" COAL Same Groups.

I've tried Varget and it didn't group as well with my rifle.

I'm shooting a Remington Sendero 26" .223

H335
Hodgdon says 25.3 gr
I can get long brass life with 29 gr if I collet neck size.

52, 53, 55gr bullets out of my Ruger 22" barrel
with win or LC 205's works great with H335 @25 plus loads
The best is 27.5 on a 52gr Amax bullet out of this rifle and a tikka....T-3....easy to load and very accurate.....
