Suppressors Loctite ?

272 is the better option, TBAC recommends it also. Can't find it locally. Just curious if 271 is "good enough". If I have to order something I'll just get more Rocksett.
I understand that and we are trying to give you the information for you to decide. Look at the PDF. The major difference between the two is 272 is good to 450 degrees 271 300. 271 has higher break away torque.

Understand but L red isn't "difficult" in the sense of "twiss jus a leetle harder"- Depending on the tube dimensions of the barrel, length of the threaded portion and how much metal is under those threads, the torsional stress required to remove it can exceed the barrels ability to withstand and if you put that much heat on it you can damage it that way too.

Not wanting to be an alarmist but Red has been a root cause of fasteners wringing off- its not made for casual removals.

Just want you to be fully informed, that's all.
Mount/adapter gets loctited to barrel threads, suppressor attaches to mount with no thread locker.

Will red Loctite 271 work worth a damn on a suppressor mount? My little tube of Rocksett shit the bed and I can't find any Loctite 272 locally.

Brother, dont order an entire bottle for one mount. I'll send you mine, use it and send it back. Let me know if you want me to ship it....just send an email.

I would ask a different question.

If the threads are correct to dimension and the unit is tensioned properly, why the need for Loctite in the first place?

We use red in the shop all the time ( and green for bearings) and when you put it on there, its going to be "difficult" to remove.

Just FYI
The reason is that if you use a adapter/mount they are almost always a taper mount. Taper mounts like a ball joint/tie rod are self centering and self locking. So without some kind of locking compound on the threads it is very common to have the mount stick in the suppressor when suppressor is removed making a shitty situation.

Thanks. I've reviewed the charts and 271 is good to 300 degrees, not sure if my can and mount get that hot or not . Bolt rifle, no comps or extended strings of fire .
I can almost assure you that unless you are waiting about 5 minutes between shots you are getting over 300 degrees.

When it cools down it will harden again.

I did 20 shots in about 25 min last weekend and suppressor was over 600.

On a hot summer day it takes along time to dissipate heat.

I had one of those tiny tubes as well. It was a worthless gel consistency when I went to use it. Bought a 2oz bottle from brownells. As much as a suppressor costs, a bottle of thread locker is nothing. I'm sure I'll find something else to use it on too.
