I'm trying to get my head around why the Cadex 33(long action) stock offers the option to have 308 bottom metal.

My google skills tell me that the M24 was a long action 308.
Is this option for that market/the military?

I only ask because it would be nice to upgrade from 308 to 300WM and not need to buy a new stock.

Are long action 308 rifles easy to come by?
Or would I need to get a long action re-barreled to 308 and get a new bolt to use this stock with that option?
Or is there a long action caliber that will work with the AI mags of the 300WM with lower recoil?

Oh and let me just beat you all to the joke and say that I know a Long Action 308 is a 30-06... ha ha

Re: Long Action 308 for Cadex

Just purchase a Long Action 700 in .300wm and add the chassis to the weapon.

the original M24 was a long action with a .308 barrel. What is nice about this chassis is it has the ability for pre-existing M24 users to upfit the original M24 with Bottom Metal Package A. When the users decide to reconfigure the original M24 ti say .300WM the bottom metal gets changed to pachage B. The abilty to change lower metal is a great feature that allows for upgrades and mods. Also you can access the trigger for maintenance without removing the barreled action from the chassis, thus eliminating the re-zeroing process.
