Long Action 308 v.s 300 WSM MAGAZINE?

The 308 AI mags can be modified to feed WSM rounds by opening up the feed lips on a 308 AICS mag for the fatter cartridge body. I ended up getting a pair of sheet metal bending pliers to keep the lips straight. You can also buy WSM ready mags from Alpha mags.

I believe the Alpha Type 4 would be the long action variant. It is designed for a 300 WM which is standard length. It would probably still have to be opened up a little bit for those fat WSM cases.

Accurate mag sells 30-06 mags, which will fit perfectly in AICS bottom metal. No need to modify any feed lips with these. You can use standard 300 WM mags for 300 WSM in a long action.

Possibly the feed lips weren't to exact spec. That's an easy fix though. If you run with detachable mags you should get yourself a set of micrometer calipers and one of these:

I had the same problem. I took my dremel tool and took out the left rib on the mag. No more problems with sticking rounds and it gives me a visual of round in the mag. It works great now.
