Long Gun Training’s 2019 schedule is up on our website Long Gun Training; follow the link for all course offerings. Below are the dates and descriptions for our Precision and Long Range Rifle courses. Courses will be offered in Western New York State, Tennessee and New Hampshire.

Long Gun Training continues to work our friends in the precision rifle industry to offer diverse and quality training. 2019 we will work together with Ridgeline Shooting and Treadproof Academy again; Look for additional dates and guest instructors as this year’s training progresses.

PR 101 (100-700 yards)

2 day course


Precision Rifle instruction held on our Main Training Center range with target sets out to 700 yards. Designed for the beginner to intermediate shooter. This course has a heavy emphasis on the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and will be primarily done from the front support prone position. Physical exertion for students will be low to moderate.

Range Safety Rules and Range Brief
Marksmanship Described and Defined
Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship
Proper Individual Rifle Setup Workshop
Precision Rifle Glossary of Terms and Definitions
External Ballistics Trajectory (Basic)
Scope Definitions, Principles and Use
Rifle Data Book
Firing Solutions
External Ballistics Wind (Basic)
Equipment and Gear - use of, care of and keeping order of it. (Keep your kit tight)
Rifle Care and Cleaning (students need to have tools for their rifle system)

Live Fire Drills:

100 Yard Zeroing Drill and Techniques (Paper Target)
100 Yard Natural Point of Aim Drill (Paper Target)
100 Yard Position Building Drill (Paper Target)
Cold Bore Shot Principles (Paper and Steel Targets)
Steel Targets 200 Yards to 700 Yards
Students will engage multiple targets and record personal data
Introduction to Hold Overs and Hold Unders using a scaled reticle


PR/LR 102 (100-1300 yards)

2 day course


Precision and Long Range Rifle instruction on our Main Training Center range with target sets out to 700 yards and on our Long Range venue with target sets out to 1300 yards. Day One - Main training Center targets out to 700 yards We introduce students to Positional, Tripod, Barricade and front support other than prone as well as multiple target engagements. Day Two - Long Range Venue targets out to 1300 yards Students will continue with field data collection with a greater emphasis on atmospheric measurements and applying these into ballistic solvers for firing solutions. Students will also be exposed to spotting and calling corrections for each other.

Topics will include:

Range Safety Rules and Range Brief
Positional, Tripod, Barricade and front support other than prone
Multiple Target engagement
Continued collection of ballistic data to 1300 yards
Bullet Trajectory
Bullet Stability
Bullet Drift
Atmospherics
Ballistic Solver use (Advanced)
Spotting and Correction Calling
Wind Calling (multiple zones)

Live Fire Drills:

100 Yard Zero confirmation (Paper Target)
Cold Bore Shot Principles (Paper and Steel Targets)
Steel Targets 200 Yards to 1300 Yards
Measure Atmospheric conditions and calculate Firing Solutions
Spotting and Calling Tasks
Wind Reading and adjustment Drills
Multiple Target engagement drills (Including Time Stress drills)
