i have been using the super snipers for a while now, mostly because of price. But they seem to build a hell of a scope. i am going to build a 1500yrd gun. 1st one. fixed power ok ?

Re: Long range shooting, fixed power ok ?

The ones i have are 16x and 20x fixed, on a 30mm tube. i agree tho not looking for a bench gun. i was just wanderin what ya thought about the fixed powers. i would love a s&b, or nightforce but...

Re: Long range shooting, fixed power ok ?

1500 yrd is a moon shot for most , AND you got to see the target, little boolits you can not see the misses at that range so......................you be launching BIG boolits, which means, wire reticule variable may not hold up for long....thussly it defaults to etched glass....

most here will not drop the dime on a fixed etched glass....too limiting

Yea, i looking at a 338 edge. now for the most part 1000 is about the most yardage i can get around here. and that is still a good distance. ill be sending 300gr smks. any thoughts on a scope that is reasonbly priced? under 1000? under 800?

If you already have the 16x and 20x give it a try. Your target size will dictate how much magnification you need. Hitting a 12" plate at 1k can be done with a 10x, but as noted seeing bullet impacts in the dirt is tough with a 10x when you get way out there.
