Gunsmithing longer recoil lugs ?

We bought a batch of 700 Remington recoil lugs from a company they are longer than factory ? Long enough it requires milling the pocket some any reason for this ? It would be easier to not have to mill unless there's some benefit ?

I always thought remmy lugs were way too long as is. I don’t see a benefit to a longer lug. I’d make a simple mill fixture and chop them all down to standard length.

I can only think of a downside to a longer lug. It would take less force to bend it if it's longer.

Its easy enough to trim them thought maybe I was missing something special .
